Chuckball… It’s Intense
They call it chuckball becaue only Chuck Norris is tough enough to play it. Chuckball is a popular game in Arizona and is a combonation of kickball and football. All you need to play is a football and a field with bases. The positions, teams, and most of the rules are just like they are in kickball unless otherwise stated. When asked their opinion on the game, both Zach Grabel and Ed Alisha replied, “It’s inense!”
Basic Rules of Play:
The pitcher stands on the mound with the football and throws it as hard as he can at the batter/chucker who is standing behind home plate (without a bat). If the ball crosses the plate in the strike zone, it is called a “strike” (if not, it is called a “ball”). The batter/chucker attempts to catch the ball before it hits the ground (if he touches the ball and drops it, it deemed is a “foul ball”)… if he catches the ball, he has until the pitcher’s count of 3-apple to throw or kick the ball into the field. After 3-apple is reached, the fielders are allowed to run up and try to touch the chucker with two hands. If is touched, he is called “out.” If the ball gets thrown into the field, the same rules as those of kickball apply. If there are six or less players on each team, it is suggested that you play with 1 or 2-out innings.
I hope you will carry on this awesome tradition and wish you the best of luck!
