5 Proven Tips to maximize your income over Christmas and New Years with Ease

Published by admin under Sport

Hey fellow PTs hope business is booming…

So it is that time of year again where clients want to go on holiday, have breaks, cancel more frequently and you may even go on a break yourself. So how do we maximize our income and show rates over this seemingly inconsistent time?

After operating a successful PT business now over 11 Christmases it has given me great insight to what does and doesn’t work and although I understand people are different and we may all do things a little differently on my journey I have found the following 5 elements to be crucial in an explosive New Year.

So If I was to show you 5 simple and very effective strategies to maximize your income, lead generation and show rate over the next 4 weeks would that be something that would arouse your curiosity and motivate you to read on?

Below are some very easy to follow methods that you may or may not already use or know but again do you use them to their full potential?
Firstly for all of these amazingly simple techniques to work effectively it is important that principle number one is followed. Now earlier this year I was reading a publication that included a fascinating study of 20 of the most perceivable successful PTs in Australia and all 20 in the study followed this primary principle. They understand the power of this basic fundamental in Personal Training and also the service industry using it to its full potential to really make massive gains.

That is the principle of Direct Debit. I understand most of you reading this have already established an account with a direct debit company like FFAPaysmart, EzyPay or Debit Success right? (For any further information simply contact me)

1) Direct Debit

So what are the benefits to direct debit?

a) All reports will be completed by the company and emailed to you each week automating your paper work meaning ledgers and other books are not necessary, saving you precious time from noooooo more paperwork…

b) Your show rate will increase: Clients who pay cash especially each time they see you unconsciously link pain of giving more and seeing you, may have to stop at the bank to withdraw money, perhaps even spend it on something else. How many times have you had a client owe you hundreds of dollars for them to turn around and cancel last minute? By having your client on direct debit they pay a week in advance so have already paid for their session before doing, don’t have to personally hand you money and are more motivated to actually show to the session.

c) YOU WILL EARN MORE MONEY: Here is why… All your clients will be paying a week in advance preferably weekly or fortnightly to moderate consistency of your income allowing budgeting to become an easier process. This way when a client cancels within the 24 hour cancellation policy or stands you up you can still charge them as per their agreement as they have already paid for the session.

2) Doubling up: NEVER ALTER A CLIENTS PAYMENTS UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY

This is vital especially over Christmas, it appears most PTs have one week off over Xmas so if I could show you a way to still get paid for that week is that something that will spark your interest and cause you to pay close attention? It is so simple. If you have a client that trains with you once each week you simply suggest when you come back from your week off you double up doing two sessions the following week to assist them in getting back into it, if they do two sessions they double up for two weeks and three sessions three weeks. Your client will appreciate you wanting to help them. If they are going away then you use the same principles, simply suggest to them you are doing it to Kick Start their training and keep them motivated. Just imagine a week off over Xmas but you still get paid that week. Use this same principle when someone cancels simply suggest when someone cancels ok not a problem we will do an extra session next week to make up for it.

3) December and January Promotions. (Also see my previous discussions.)

Ok since we have already discussed promos for December lets discuss January. This is when people are seeking motivation and results based on their New Year’s resolution, break from functionality, over indulging and Xmas break so this is a great time to offer people an incentive to kick start their new year. The three suggested promos would be:

a) If you handed out the gift vouchers for clients friends and family in December now is time to cash them in contact all your clients and let them know to inform their friends it is the last week they have to take advantage of the vouchers. If you did not use them in December now is the time make some vouchers entitling the holder and a friend to 3 free sessions with the value and expiry date being 1st Feb distribute them to clients and FOLLOW UP ON THEM. (Simply contact me if you wish to see an example) You can also run a similar referral campaign offering a prize as an incentive. Some of you may be thinking well I’ve done this Jason but have you followed up?

b) 50% off special for existing clients: In the new year simply offer all existing clients (once completed their double up sessions) the opportunity for the month of January only (or 4 weeks) to have an extra session at 50% off example if they do 2 sessions each week for $100 then they can purchase a 3rd session for the next 4 weeks only for an extra $25 this will boost your sessions plus your income and imagine after 4 weeks they are getting such great results they want to keep doing 3 sessions but have to pay full price right.

c) 50% off for new clients (January only): As a tie in to the referral campaign all new clients can either by example 5 sessions receive 5 free or buy example a 10 pack at half price (they must complete at least 2 sessions each week) Once again this will maximize your sales and once they complete their pack many clients will wish to continue but be required to pay full price.

If you wish to really set up for an amazing new year it is absolutely imperative you are organized and I truly believe this simple tactic is one of the most important to do so, I see so many trainers talk about but not actually do the following and miss out on big money and opportunities in the New Year.

4) Have all your active clients booked in for the New Year and your first week back before you go on the Christmas break.

There is nothing worse than coming back in the new year un-organized attempting to get hold of clients to book them in plus hearing, oh umm I’m a little short of cash I might leave it until February. Ahhhhhhh. To avoid this be professional, organized and assertive. Now I understand some of you are reading this and thinking well sure Jason I already do this, if you do then great what about offering your client an incentive for coming back in the first week to reward them or even have them bring a friend/buddy along to the session?

5) Organize a FREE Group Training session for all your clients and 2 friends only each.

As a reward for coming back in the new year organize a date for a group training session in January absolutely free to make your clients feel special and exclusively invite them and 2 friends only, if it goes well you can continue the sessions and charge for them (if not you have gained some new leads) plus imagine the leads you will get because all your die hard clients will be raving to their friends. Example of the power of using this idea… Imagine you have 10 clients they each invite 2 people each (you can even hand out vouchers to your clients to give to 2 of their friends) that is potentially 30 people in your group session and 20 potential leads/new clients.

At the end of the Group Session simply book all the newbie’s/leads in for a one on one induction for free to help them more effectively with their goals and desired results and up sell them PT.
There you have it 5 of the most simple yet effective strategies for maximizing income, leads and sessions over Christmas and New Year and I promise if you use these easy to use principles you are set for an amazing New Year.

I hope these techniques assist in your success as much as they have mine have an amazing Christmas and New Year and as always I appreciate any feedback or success stories or for even any extra info simply contact me at livefreehealth@hotmail.com

Two great ideas to build your Personal Training business over Xmas and set up for an amazing new year

Published by admin under Sport

Have you ever really thought about the fact that society as a whole spends more money in the month of December than any other month of the year? That people so freely give generously and are prepared to spend money to do so, yet so many personal trainers find themselves earning less over Xmas.

Why is it that some trainers flourish yet others lose countless clients and sessions over Xmas? Is it limiting beliefs? Paradigms and our own perception of Xmas? Why aren’t personal trainers receiving more of the money society is spending?

It is simply a matter of educating people on the opportunities to purchase PT and group training packages as Xmas gifts for friends, family or even themselves.

The key is to look after your clients and give them gifts and offer promotions and incentives.

Gift voucher, idea number 1:

Create 2 vouchers to give to each of your clients with 3 free PT sessions for the holder and a friend and the value, eg if you charge $50 per session then the voucher value will be $300. Imagine that giving each client a total of $600 do you think they will be appreciative? Be sure to have an expiry date preferably in mid January and your contact details.
To add the icing on the cake you can place them either in a Christmas card or a coloured envelope with a ribbon tied around it. Watch your clients eyes light up. Remember the key is to use the first session as 1 hour as the induction to build rapport do goal setting a quick workout then up-sell your PT package. The second is a 30minute follow up.

If you have 15 clients and you give them each 2 vouchers for 2 people that gives you 60 potential prospects for December and January. You can even send them to your past clients from the beginning of the year. Then What?

Promotion, idea number 2:

Once you have put your feelers out to generate the leads the next step is to have a promotion ready to appeal to the potential client conducive to the festive season.

The most powerful promotion seems to be a 50% off promo which can be delivered 2 ways. Either sell a package at half prize for December only or for every session they buy they receive one free. I personally normally sell 10 x 30 minute PT sessions for $599 but for December only as a Xmas special it is only $299 what a bargain.

Now some people may say doesn’t it devalue PT? Well no because it is a once a year only offer that will give you a boost over Xmas. Eg I started this promo last week and sold 4 x 10 packs taking $1200, each client must do 2 sessions each week. In the new year 2 of the 4 clients will probably stop and 2 will continue, but here is the beauty of this promo in January I will still earn the same amount of money but be working less because the clients that continue will be paying full price, plus I will take an extra few thousand dollars as a Xmas bonus.

I have dozens of PTs Australia wide using this great idea with amazing results, it’s up to you give it a go and reap the rewards.

I personally am giving my clients something each week:

Week 1: vouchers
Week 2: Xmas Card
Week 3: Bottle of Yellow Champagne wrapped in cellophane
Week 4: everyone who is training receives a free session that week.

Thanks again for taking the time to read this publication I hope it brings you as much success as it has me.

5 Steps to a Booming Personal Training Facebook Fan Page or Group

Published by admin under Sport

If you are reading this then you are probably a personal trainer using Facebook and there is a good chance you already have a group or fan page for your business.

If you don’t yet then you should (I will explain why below) and if you do are you using it to its full potential to communicate with your clients to maximize retention and is it growing rapidly in numbers acting like a lead generating machine?

Did you know the average PT has only 100 or less people in their group yet there are PTs out there with 1000s? So what is their secret how did they grow their group to such large numbers and how do they make it look so easy?

To learn the secrets and discover the answers keep reading below…

I was speaking to a fellow Personal Trainer last week who has 1500 people in his group and I was very curious as to his secret so I simply asked him and this was his response. He said the number one key for having a successful group Jason is simple and I can explain it in 5 parts, but before I do there is one thing that you must know and understand first. I said yes go on please, please… He said the number one key to having a successful group is to use ALL of the features to their full potential with content rich information.

I asked him to explain and this is what he said:

Step 1:

Use video.
This is my favourite he said because this has more dimensions than any other feature. I said what do you mean? He continued well there are many things you can use video for; the most powerful are the following:

Testimonials: every few weeks I take a 60 second video on my digital camera of one of my clients commented on the benefits of my training the results they achieve and why they would recommend it and post it on my group for the world to see.

Profile: On my group I have a 60 second video profile of my services, benefits, credentials and what I have to offer, I like to update this every month or two, you know to get my new hair cut ;)

Action Vids: Short videos of me personally training clients and taking groups, I believe this is very powerful if you do this regularly perhaps 2-5 x each week I simply have one of my client’s record then swap.

Exercise technique: For all of my clients I like to have an exercise of the week in which I record and post on my group or even a nutritional tip.

Weekly update: Lastly I like to have a weekly update just 2 or 3 minutes of congratulating client’s what’s happening in my business upcoming events etc…

I thought to myself wow these are great strategies and would really add great value to the page. By now some of you may be thinking well yes I already have heard of most these things but do you do them??

Step 2:

Photos.
These are really powerful because when you tag someone all their FB friends see the picture and become interested in what you and your group have to offer.

Group photos: when you have large numbers in your group training sessions take a pic and tag everyone if there are 20 people and they each have 200 friends that means 4000 people potentially can see that picture.

Achievement pics: When a client achieves a great goal, have a photo with them and post it on your group.

Before and after pics: These as you know acts as social proof of how great a trainer you are.

Events: be sure to get many fun photos also to show that you are not just all work but play as well.

Step 3:
Status updates, discussions and links.

Status Updates: By maintaining communication with existing clients, past clients and prospects you will stay fresh in their mind. He said Jason this is probably the most important aspect for consistency I post daily comments including: motivational quotes, exercise tips, nutrition tips, congratulations to clients on achievements and finish this sentence to maximize involvement and ask question to make it like a community so my clients can communicate with each other, so you see he said it’s like a society with social aspects as well.

Discussion board: Although it seems a lot of people don’t respond to these people still read them and it adds value and content to your page I use written testimonials from clients, articles I write and success stories on a regular basis to complete this part.

Links: occasionally I will to fill up the page add related websites about exercise, health and nutrition as an extra resource for members.

Step 4:
Events.

Events a great way to reward your clients for their hard work and also to have them interact with each other, this is amazing for retention plus when everyone can bring a friend you have just gained numerous referrals.

I like to have regular social events and post them on my group, it might be fun Sunday session or BBQ at the beach or it might be active like rock climbing or bowling either way by having an event each month really allows me to grow my business and group fast.

Step 5:
Referrals.

Using the above 4 strategies and a referral system has really been my secret to achieving such a successful business and group he said to me, so I asked him how does he usually gain referrals?

Well Jason once you have a content rich site, even if you only have 10 members start on the 1st four strategies immediately and watch it grow.

But to really sky rocket the numbers this is what I do.

I ask all my clients in sessions to join my group or invite by email then ask them to invite all their Facebook friends and when they do I will give them 2 free PT sessions valued at $100, I said what a great idea.

He said then the key is when you are online catching them on Facebook and ask them there and then whilst they are online to invite their friends and you can direct them to do so.

After he shared all these wonderful ideas with me I could now understand why he had over 1500 members and 4 PTs working for him.
He said one last thing to me… He said Jason these techniques are very simple and are only effective when you use them. There is a difference between knowing and doing, most people know these strategies but don’t do them. The person who does these strategies will be the successful PT the ones who really want to be successful will do this and be successful.

So there you have it 5 amazing steps full of wisdom by an already very successful PT and the strategies he used to build a successful group and business.
