Winter Olympics Tickets Venues & Marketing at Your Ticket Market

Published by admin under Sport

Some venues of Winter Olympics, including the Richmond Olympic Oval, are at sea level, a rarity for the Winter Games. The 2010 Games will also be the first—Winter or Summer—to have an Opening Ceremony held indoors. Vancouver, which will be the most populous city ever to hold the Winter Games, will also be the warmest: in February, when the Games will be held, Vancouver has an average temperature of 4.8 °C (40.6 °F).The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at BC Place Stadium, which has received over $150 million in major renovations. Competition venues in Greater Vancouver include the Pacific Coliseum, the Vancouver Olympic/Paralympics Centre, the UBC Winter Sports Centre, the Richmond Olympic Oval and Cypress Mountain.

GM Place will play host to ice hockey events, but because corporate sponsorship is not allowed for an Olympic venue, it will be renamed Canada Hockey Place for the duration of the games. Competition venues in Whistler include the Whistler Blackcomb ski resort, the Whistler Olympic Park and the Whistler Sliding Centre. The 2010 Winter Olympics will mark the first time since the National Hockey League (NHL) allowed its players to compete in Olympic Games (in 1998) that Olympics will be held in an NHL market. To avoid conflict between player commitments to their Olympic hockey squads and their NHL teams, the league will not hold games during the 2010 Olympic Games, and the season schedule has been compressed. In addition, Vancouver’s NHL team, the Canucks, will be displaced from General Motors Place, their home arena.

The arena, temporarily renamed ‘Canada Hockey Place’ because the IOC does not allow corporate sponsorship for venues used in the Olympic Games, is planned to undergo some renovations in preparation for the games, including the removal of advertising from the ice surface and conversion of some seating to accommodate the media. As a result, the Canucks will be faced with the longest road trip in NHL history, with 14 games over 6 weeks, from January 27 to March 13, 2010.The Olympic Torch Relay is the transfer of the Olympic flame from Ancient Olympia, Greece where the first Olympic Games were held thousands of years ago to the stadium of the city hosting the current Olympic Games.

The flame arrives just in time for the Opening Ceremony. For the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, the flame was lit in Olympia on October 22, 2009.It will then travel from Greece, over the North Pole to Canada’s High Arctic and on to the West Coast and Vancouver. The relay will start its long Canada journey from the British Columbia capital of Victoria. In Canada, the torch will travel approximately 45,000 kilometers over 106 days, making it the longest relay route within one country in Olympic history. The Olympic Torch will be carried by approximately 12,000 Canadians.

Say YES to Getting Fit

Published by admin under Sport

There are always lots of reasons (also known as excuses) for not starting a fitness program, not sticking with a fitness program, and not getting in better shape. It is time to start saying ?Yes? to getting fit and creating an action plan to overcome the reasons you haven?t started your fitness plan or have stopped getting fit. Some common reasons and excuses for not being fit and how to overcome them: I AM WAY TO BUSY TO EXERCISE OR EAT RIGHT You know you can make time for what is important to you, so to begin, make getting in shape important to you. If you try to start too big, you will set yourself up for failure. Going from no time to exercise to setting a goal to go to the gym 5 days a week for 2 hours will rarely be successful. If you decide to go to the gym, start with once per week and when that is part of your weekly routine it will be easier to increase the length of time at the gym and the number of days at the gym. You can even start with short walks. Before you start to get ready for work, walk 5-10 minutes turn around and walk back home. Almost everyone can find 10 minutes a day a few times a week. Combine it with other activities like studying, time with family or friends, listening to music, or praying. Once the door is open to regular exercise and you start to feel healthier it will become easier to include a fitness program into your everyday life. THERE IS A HOLIDAY, SPECIAL OCCASION, PARTY, ETC. COMING UP Sure it may be harder to stick with a fitness plan that includes eating right when there are holidays, events, celebrations, and occasions that revolve around food and lots of it. (Thanksgiving is one holiday that comes to mind immediately). When tempted with an abundance of food, eat the ?good? foods first and then go to some of the other dishes that are available. Eat slowly, eat in moderation, but still eat the seasonal and holiday foods that are made available. Enjoy it guilt free. More and more people are overweight, so it shouldn?t be hard to find someone at the gathering that wants to take a short walk after eating. Even those who aren?t concerned about their weight will appreciate a walk so that they can help relieve that overstuffed feeling faster. I WANT TO BE MORE FIT, BUT I AM JUST TOO LAZY Even if you are lazy by nature, you have probably spent years talking yourself out of getting fit. Now it is time to start talking yourself into getting fit. It begins with what you say out loud and from there should include what you think (self talk). Start saying things like ?I?m going to stop being so lazy and walk 10 minutes a few times a week? and ?I am not going to be too lazy to fix healthy meals? and ?I won?t let my laziness keep me from getting fit?. Start picturing yourself meeting your fitness goals. Tell yourself that you can do it. A simple fitness exercise to start out with is walking. You can do it in the comfortable shoes you already have, but you will get better and faster results wearing a fitness shoe like Stepgym shoes. To learn more about fitness shoes, how they work, and what a fitness shoe can do for your body, go to StepGym.com.
