Superbowl 47

Published by admin under Sport

“He throws! It’s a long pass. It’s. . .oh what an amazing catch at the 30 yard line! He’s at the 20, the ten—he scores! Touchdown!” The excitement, the adrenaline pumping rush of watching your favorite team crush their opponent and the ultimate goal of getting a touchdown. This is what real men do. We’re football fans and we’re not afraid to say it: I’ve got tickets for Superbowl 47! Yeah, that’s right, in-your-face! Okay, you know I’m jealous. And not just because you get to see the hottest game in America. But also became you get to visit one of the coolest towns this great country has to offer. Houston may not be on the top ten list of vacation spots, but let me tell you, it’s not a nothing town. Not by a long shot. So, if you’re heading down to see Superbowl 46, then you should totally be checking out some of the things Houston has to offer.

“Houston, we have a problem.” The problem is that we can’t possibly see everything this amazing town has to offer. But you’d be kicking yourself if you headed for Superbowl 47 and didn’t visit the Houston Space Center. Unfortunately, due to security concerns you will not be allowed to see all of the Space Center operations. However, there are regular tram tours that will let you see the majority of the working facility. You can get up close and personal with a Saturn rocket or you can glance (or do more than glance) at the shuttle payload bays. The exhibits here will teach you all about the manned space program and what cool plans NASA has for the future (the ones that are not Top Secret anyway).

If you’re taking the kids to see Superbowl 47 (lucky kids! I wish my dad had taken me when I was their age), then you should totally consider visiting the Houston Children’s museum. This museum consistently ranks among the top ten attractions in the area on every list of things to do. The museum includes lots of exhibits which defy the traditional museum’s do not touch rules. In this case, it’s all please touch! And the exhibits are friendly for both kids and adults. As a matter of fact, you can actually build robots in the Invention Convention or take a turn at the news anchor’s desk. You can also “run” a small business, get elected as mayor in Kidtropolis and figure out what all the fuss is about with nanobots in the Matter Factory. There are also science exhibits which are very hands on in order to enthrall young visitors (before they head out to the stadium to see Superbowl 46 that is).

Superbowl Odds

Published by admin under Sport

So in a few months, we’re all gonna be sitting down for a bunch of beers and wings along with some nachos and lots of fun. You all know what I’m talking about. It’s the Superbowl. Odds are you will want to play some games during the big game and you need some ideas. If you’re the host of a superbowl party, it’s not enough to have the dips and the chips fully stocked or the beer chilled to perfection. So, for all you hosts who are wondering what to do when the big day arrives, here’s some cool ideas for games you can play during the superbowl.

First off, the Superbowl Odds game. You can make bets on virtually anything. What the spread will be, how many touchdowns one team will make, how many fumbles, etc. Whatever you think could happen during the game, all you have to do is figure odds for it. Maybe have a betting pool for everyone during the game and whoever gets the most right wins the pot (split with the house of course to cover the cost of your party).

Here’s another cool idea along the same basic lines. Instead of placing bets, especially in this economy, have a drinking game. Every time a touchdown happens, everyone slams back a drink. Every completed pass, a wing gets passed to your friend. Heck, you could even make it really interesting by using the same concept as the Superbowl Odds game and instead of a winner, the loser has to clean everything up (assuming he isn’t to drunk that is).

Here’s another game you can play that involves Superbowl odds. Basically, the idea here is to figure out who gets closest to the actual score for that quarter. What you do is to put together a grid where you have the numbers 1-9 along the top and side. Then everyone can put their names into boxes. One person might choose 29, another 89 (if he really thinks it’s going to be a crazy game). Then whoever gets closest to the actual score for the quarter wins. It can be done the same as the first game I suggested, with a pot where the winner takes half and half pays for the party. Or you could simply do 1-9 and bet on how many touchdowns there will be, or how many fumbles. It’s endless fun.

Whatever you do for games during the superbowl, odds are you’ll have fun. Just make sure that you keep it fair and don’t let anyone ruin the day for the rest. Enjoy the game.
