Sock Hop Dance Themes

Published by admin under Sport

The dancing style of the 1950’s is one many people remember fondly. Perhaps you were around to enjoy it back then. Most people though have to view it on TV from time to time. Some of the TV shows including American Dreams offered people an inside look at the dances and the artists of that era. Why not have some fun experiencing them on your own? Before you know it you will have a huge smile on your face!

A sock hop dance theme is a great way to get people involved in those songs from the past again. They can even come dressed in clothing from that era including poodle skirts and rolled up jeans. Don’t worry if you don’t have your old record player and vinyls either. You can buy CD’s that have all of your favorite dance tunes from the 1950’s on them.

With the different styles of dancing offered at a sock hop, there is no need to bring a date. In fact, if most of the people you will be inviting to the event are single then that is even better. All of the dance moves they will take part in are going to help them to get to know those around them.

Brushing up on the types of dances for a sock hop can be just as much fun as actually attending. You can be sure that your guests will be working on them as soon as they get your invitation. Since there are so many online videos these days, watching them is a great way to get an idea of what to do. Don’t worry if you don’t have much experience though. When it comes to a sock hop, there are usually only a few movements for each song that get repeated again and again.

Some of the dance moves from this era include the Mashed Potato, the Twist, the Cha Cha Cha, and the Jitterbug. What is so great about all of these dances is that they are appropriate for people of all ages to take part in. There is no generation gap when it comes to them. They are timeless icons that seem to work very well in spite of the many ways that music has changed in the that span of time.

Many parents are upset at the current dance moves offered today. They aren’t willing to take part in them. They definitely aren’t willing to let their kids do them either. A sock hop can offer some family fun that everyone is very impressed with. It can be great to see the younger generations out there doing them. It is also a great experience to see the older folks getting in on the fun as well.

A 50’s sock hop dance party is a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday, retirement, or some other type of party that you wish to take part in. It can be the perfect hit though for a New Year’s Eve party. If you are hosting an event for a father and daughter dance then this will work very well for it. With a community event, you can’t go wrong with this type of dancing either.

This is an idea that isn’t used all the time which is why it is so refreshing. There are plenty of party items that fit this particular theme as well that you can incorporate with it. You can find such party items at many stores or you can purchase them online. Do your best to make the entire atmosphere very 50’s from start to finish. That way your guests will be very involved with it.

New Self-Defense Program That Anyone Can Do!

Published by admin under Sport

The Dojo of Karate is proud to be the first Martial Arts School in Colorado to launch the new Self-Defense Black Belt Program to residents of Westminster, Broomfield, and Thornton, Colorado.

The Self-Defense Black Belt Program (SDBBP) was created for common people wanting to learn applicable self-protection moves and techniques that are easy to perform, while getting fast and useful results.

When you join the SDBBP, you can develop your self-defense skills in 3 months, and earn a Black Belt in 3 years.

Here Is What You Will Learn
Ever wanted to know how to defend yourself properly, or how to execute a correct punch, kick, or strike?

Well, we begin your training by building a foundation of basic strikes and blocks and allowing you to perform these moves with partners or shields in a controlled format. This will develop the necessary skills needed to progress through our belt system of self-defense.

You will than begin to learn about pressure points on an opponent’s body and how & when to strike at those targeted areas. Executing these techniques are easy to remember because he build your skill by doing various segments of repetition.

You will also learn about ground defense, in case you are in a situation where you need to defend yourself on the ground. Typically, most fights end up on the ground, and we want to make sure you feel comfortable getting out of this situation safe.

What The Self-Defense Program Isn’t
The SDBBP is not Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) – rather we like to phrase it as Integrative Martial Arts. The techniques taught in our classes are easily transferable to any martial arts style, but have been modified for people to comprehend and learn with no Martial Arts experience.

The SDBBP is not a “tough guys” approach to self-defense. You will learn very effective moves, however we emphasize all students to use controlled contact while training with proper equipment, as this prevents injuries. This is also a common practice used by professional fighters in Thialand. Many of those athletes need to stay injury-free in order to make money in their next fight.

Signup Today!
The Dojo of Karate will be launching this new program on Tuesday, October 6th 2009. Classes will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm to 8pm. And, the beauty about training in the Self-Defense Black Belt Program, is that you can start your membership at anytime because we teach on a rotating curriculum. So you will always learn the necessary techniques to progress up our belt system.

Oh, and did we mention you can try out one class for free! We want to make sure you enjoy our self-defense classes, so we are giving you a free trail class. But don’t wait too long… we have space available for only 20 adult students as this guarantees the quality of our instruction.
